Aqua Clear’s multimedia filtration systems consist of several types of media and gravel under bedding. Multi-media filtration is used to remove suspended solids and colloids from water and wastewater. Aqua Clear manufactures skid-mounted or stand alone systems that are factory assembled, wired, tested and delivered ready for installation. Multi-media filtration is a proven design; the coarse media layers in the top of the tank trap large particles, and smaller particles are trapped in the finer layers of media deeper in the bed. The result is highly efficient filtering since removal takes place throughout the entire bed, which leads to less frequent back-washes. This type of sediment filtration is ideal for a pretreatment process to any reverse osmosis system helping to ensure long life of the membrane elements.
Aqua Clear also has a line of reverse osmosis membrane compatible coagulant chemicals. Addition of a coagulant in a system using multi-media filter pretreatment may significantly improve media filtrate quality coming out of the multi-media filter. This improvement of filtrate quality directly correlates to reduced fouling of a reverse osmosis system. Aqua Clear has a highly trained staff of water chemists that perform filtration studies on your feed water to determine if coagulant addition may be beneficial for your specific application.
